Panasonic programs its way to a better future!

Panasonic's Mobile Phone Development Centre uses new toolset to increase its productivity.

Leeds 10th June 2003 - Panasonic Mobile Communications Development of Europe Ltd (PMCDE) at Thatcham in the UK has selected Program Management Group's (PMG) Hydra product suite to manage the development and delivery of its new mobile phones to key customers and markets.

Hydra was selected after a rigorous set of benchmarks and tests against a wide variety of other tools highlighted Hydra's superior ability to better schedule and manage resources and projects as part of an integrated program.

Peter Bondar, CEO of PMG noted 'The cost of missing a key delivery date for a major telecommunications project in the consumer market can exceed £150m; because of seasonality, this could mean missing a key delivery date by only 3 weeks.'

He continued, 'in complex projects there are many interdependencies; traditional project management tools are unable to track and highlight changes that occur across multiple sub-projects. When the projects are 'consolidated' often weekly or monthly there are sudden large variations, which are difficult to isolate, identify and even explain'.

He concluded 'Hydra is unique in that it constantly tracks and monitors every interdependency and interaction irrespective of size, owner or location and constantly advises and highlights issues and risks arising from these changes, eliminating the 'surprise factor'.

PMG is the UK's foremost authority in the design and development of software products supporting the concepts of Program Management.

PMG have been at the forefront of all the techniques associated with Program Management since its inception in 1996.

PMG's Hydra product is a complete program management suite, offering resource-centric, multi-project, multi-site planning capabilities. Its patented, intelligent pre-emptive resource scheduling allows organisations to successfully plan and implement multiple simultaneous projects without the limitations of discrete task-centric project management tools.
