Hydra Management - Our History"Back in the late 1970's, our founders developed one of the first-ever Project Management Software applications for the microcomputer. They recognised that organisations were looking to substantially improve the management of their resources to gain that all important competitive edge. Today, Hydra is a third generation software solution designed specifically to address the issues of managing people, projects, programs and performance: removing departmental barriers, shortening timescales and breaking free from unresponsive and unrealistic task-orientated planning systems. The ChallengeOrganisations and their management teams struggle with relentless and opposing pressures; improving service levels whilst reducing costs; delivering quality products on time and to budget but using fewer resources; eliminating redundancy and duplication; planning for the future but reacting to the current needs of today. In the last 50 years of IT and management theory, large numbers of solutions have been created to solve these dichotomies. Sadly, most of these software and process-based approaches have been founded on a historical prospective with little focus on the future or the organisation's capabilities. Yet, not only is the typical organisation trying to manage today's issues, they are simultaneously trying to plan for tomorrow, with several plans in parallel. Legacy Project Management TechniquesMany project management applications have been designed around a common set of techniques to determine the time, effort and dependencies that are involved in any project. This task centric approach relies on supporting techniques of critical path analysis and then for more complex projects, a 'consolidation' process, where all sub projects are combined to one master project. However, for complex projects, there are a number of limitations to these techniques which can result in gross errors, large amounts of manual intervention and unrealistic plans and schedules. How many of your plans currently need more resource to achieve the end date? Yet you don't have these resources and therefore your not looking at reality! The SolutionHydra offers a radically different approach to handling complex projects; this is the technique of resource centric scheduling and is allied to an integrated / holistic approach to managing a complex set of programs, projects and resources with interdependencies. Hydra's advanced technology architecture is uniquely designed to: provide an enterprise-wide view of performance; manage interrelated and concurrently running projects; reduce lead times; optimise resources across departmental and hierarchical structures; and exploit intellectual capital. By harnessing the power of this management potential, organisations worldwide, are able to improve the management of complex resourcing across locations and time zones, empower executives to collaborate better and make more effective business decisions whilst ensuring their business strategy is constantly aligned and synchronised with their ability to deliver. In other words, facilitating a continuous improvement change strategy, with no compromises and no half measures. Couple this with our expert consultancy division, PMG soon becomes your one stop shop for whatever aspect of project and programme management you are looking for!"
